How to Write a News Report.....
- Write your name and date on the looseleaf paper.
- Skim and Scan articles that are local in order to make a decision.
- Do not choose editorials or "article-ettes" (Local digest section or super small articles with only a few facts.)
- Cut out the entire article; including pictures and captions.
- READ the article.
- Include headline, date article was published, who, where, and what (write five interesting facts in your own words listed in bullet form).
Week of November 28, 2011- How to Write a Set of Instructions

This week, the students will be writing a different kind of Writing Project.
- Students will select a topic related to instructions. (due November 28th)
- They must choose a subject that will be able to be demonstrated or explained in class.
- The final product must be able to be brought in class.
- For example: How to decorate a Christmas Tree, How to make Red Velvet Cake, How to knit a scarf, How to create a charm bracelet, How to blend a Strawberry Smoothie.
- Information will need to be collected on your topic.
- All instructions will be written on note cards and then presented orally in class next week.

Everyone who has presented so far has done a fantastic job explaining their Instructions. Students have brought in food, arts and crafts, lip scrubs, blenders, etc.....So much excitement and anticipation has been present. Confidence levels and self esteem has been very prevalent. SUPERIOR WORK SIXTH GRADERS!!

Poster Requirement: (Materials due Tuesday, March 27th to be completed in class)
