We have started to read about Daniel.
Know why he had to leave Jerusalem!
Know why the king of a foreign land trusted him more than his country's wise men!
Know why God has always protected this remarkable person!

It is always been smart to look ahead, to have foresight. Sometimes, however, we see only a day, a month or even a year from now. How about looking a lifetime from now? Do we pray like the Pharisee or the Publican? Do we set our activities on values that disappear like sand? Do we put more importance to our material possessions? OR ... do we look ahead and see that the kind of life we have here is our only way to get to God's promise of life with him in heaven?
Parable of the Lost

Luke 15 contains 3 parables: the lost coin, the lost sheep and the lost son. We have learned how God has valued sinners and how he rejoices when sinners find their way back to God.

In Matthew 13:1-23, Jesus teaches us another lesson. Read through the scripture passage. Be aware how he made mention of the different kinds of soil and how he explains each.

We have been learning about parables since last week. We have presented, read and discussed the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Matthew 18:23-35), the Parable of the Laborers of the Vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16), the Parable of the Wedding Feast (Matthew 22:1-14) and the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30). All these parables are stories Jesus presented to help us understand what heaven is. After watching and reading the gospel narrative, we are in the process of comparing all 4 parables. Each parable has one verse we all need to memorize. For the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, it is Matthew 18:35. In the Parable of the Laborers of the Vineyard, we must know Matthew 20:16 by heart. In the gospel narrative of the Parable of the Wedding Feast, we are learning Matthew 22: 14. While in the Parable of the Talents, we are trying to master Matthew 25:14-30.
Our Test for all 4 parables will be on Friday, October 28. The students will need to bring their bibles for the test.
